Roger Hall's latest play was inspired by us!

New Zealand playwright Roger Hall gained inspiration for his latest play while learning dances with Joanne Perry in Havelock North. Joanne is a keen member of the Israeli dance community, and helped Roger research dances for the play.

Roger was further helped by Ruth Ames and Bronwen Arlington, as he relates in an article about to be published in Folkdancers' Own (Folk Dance NZ newsletter). A preview of the article can be found here.

Do go and enjoy this play when it comes to your region, and take a friend or twenty:

Report from Rikud Oz

Hi all just a few lines to let you know a little of how Rikud Oz went.
It was an energetic atmosphere, and the hall was packed to the brim. The hotel was nice and the food lovely and plenty of it.
It was really nice having a few Kiwis there with such a crowd, we were like a little family. 7 of us (250 registered)
It was great watching the four teachers dancing together,
Shlomo was his usual funny self
Yaron smiled. .. . .non stop, great teacher
Dudu’s dancing style soooo beautiful and smooth (somebody please invite him here)Smile
Ohad was full of fun and energy/youthfulness

It was great they played lots of our repotoire! I left 2am the sat nite.
I found the Australian teachers from the various groups to be welcoming.
You will all love the new dances Pamy will teach at Whakatane, she is a perfect teacher/ dancer and so good to follow behind.
